Samsung becomes world’s top handset maker

Now we have a new number one in the handset makers ranking, the spot which was with Nokia for years is finally taken away from it by Samsung. Samsung might be struggling with dominance of Apple in the samrtphone market but on the whole the phone market is now dominated by Samsung.

Samsung now has a market share of 25% followed by Nokia which slipped to No. 2 after years of dominance, Samsung has confirmed that it made $4.5 billion profit in the recent quarter which is almost double it made in the same quarter last year.
It will be interesting to see how long Samsung can stay on this spot because Nokia is covering the market very quickly with some new handsets to the line up with Windows Phone 7 it has Lumia and also the Asha series in the India market which is a huge market for Nokia.
