Google Nexus 7 tablet not that impressive

Google needed to come up with something amazing to shake the Apple’s iPad market and they tried. Google I/O is going on and the first day was about the tablet, which was expected and was much anticipated as well, but personally the offering was not much impressive.

Google although has power in the 7 inches tablet with the 1.3GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor and 1GB of RAM with a nice IPS display with the screen resolution of 1280x800, but comparing it with the Apple’s retina display things look little down the line for Google.
Google Nexus 7 has a 1.2-megapixel camera for some video calling but it misses the cellular network connectivity option. The tablet will be running Android 4.1, codenamed as Jelly Bean, little performance improvements and some much needed fixes to the Ice Cream Sandwich, but it was too early changing the name of the Android version, may be Google was in a hurry to use the name. The Google Nexus 7 will be available with the price tag of $199 and will be available in 8GB and 16 GB versions. The price tag and the size and design suggest that Google is trying to replicate what Amazon did with the Kindle Fire, reaching more users with a lower price tag without compromising about the performance.
